The health of former Prime Minister and Chairman of Rastriya Janashakti
Party Surya Bahadur Thapa has improved on Sunday since he was taken to
hospital following a cardiac arrest.
Organising a press meet this morning, doctors involved in his treatment informed that a pacemaker has been implanted in his heart and it has started working. A pacemaker is a medical device that uses electrical impulses, delivered by electrodes contacting the heart muscles, to regulate the beating of the heart.
Thapa, 86, suffered a stroke while addressing a party meeting at Sano Gaucharan on Saturday morning. He was then rushed to Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital. After hours of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and the aid of pacemaker, Thapa was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Meanwhile, an Indian medical team has arrived at Norvic Hospital this morning to examine Thapa’s health condition.
Vice Chairman of party Prakash Chandra Lohani, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi, former Home Minister Bhim Rawal had reached the hospital to take a stock of Thapa’s health condition.
